Is Gratitude Good for Your Health?

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. The simplicity of sharing a meal with family and friends being grateful and appreciative is my idea of special! As I thought about wishing all of our readers a Happy Thanksgiving, I reflected on the following quotes for inspiration.

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” ~Proverbs

“Be thankful for what you have, you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never have enough.” ~Oprah Winfrey

I also pondered what effect gratitude has on our health. Some research suggests that grateful people may sleep better, have healthier hearts and fewer aches and pains.

Research has shown that gratitude is a key to psychological wellbeing that presents as happier people, better relationships and improved management of anxiety and depression.

As you celebrate this Thanksgiving holiday and focus on everything you are grateful for, why not decide to make this a daily practice and see if it has any benefits on your health and wellbeing. It is free and I can honestly say it has helped me tremendously.

Wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by thoughts of gratitude and appreciation!
